Detours in Scope-Based Route Planning

چکیده
We study a dynamic scenario of the static route planning problem in road networks. Particularly, we put accent on the most practical dynamic case – increased edge weights (up to infinity). We show how to enhance the scope-based route planning approach presented at ESA’11, [16] to intuitively by-pass closures by detours. Three variants of a detour “admissibility” are presented – from a simple one with straightforward implementation through its enhanced version to a full and very complex variant variant which always returns an optimal detour.

Contingency Planning for an Autonomous Land Vehicle
A route planner for an autonomous land vehicle has been developed that deals explicitly with the incompleteness and uncertainties that can be expected in map data. In particular, the planner finds a preferred route taking into account the potential cost of the detours that may be needed if one or more choke regions are found to be blocked. In addition, it precomputes and saves the alternative o...
متن کاملVariable detours in long-distance migration across ecological barriers and their relation to habitat availability at ground
Migration detours, the spatial deviation from the shortest route, are a widespread phenomenon in migratory species, especially if barriers must be crossed. Moving longer distances causes additional efforts in energy and time, and to be adaptive, this should be counterbalanced by favorable condition en route. We compared migration patterns of nightingales that travelled along different flyways f...
متن کاملDetour Queries in Geographical Databases for Navigation and Related Algorithm Animations
In geographical databases for navigation, users raise various types of queries concerning route guidance. The most fundamental query is a shortest-route query, but, as dynamical tra c information newly becomes available and the static geographical database of roads itself has grown up further, more exible queries are required to realize a user-friendly interface meeting the current settings. On...
متن کاملReal-time path planning in heterogeneous environments
Modern virtual environments can contain a variety of characters and traversable regions. Each character may have different preferences for the traversable region types. Pedestrians may prefer to walk on sidewalks, but they may occasionally need to traverse roads and dirt paths. By contrast, wild animals might try to stay in forest areas, but they are able to leave their protective environment w...
متن کاملTRANSPORT ROUTE PLANNING MODELS BASED ON FUZZY APPROACH
Transport route planning is one of the most important and frequent activities in supply chain management. The design of information systems for route planning in real contexts faces two relevant challenges: the complexity of the planning and the lack of complete and precise information. The purpose of this paper is to nd methods for the development of transport route planning in uncertainty dec...
